I used a neat knitting book to teach myself some new stranded knitting patterns and this is what I came up with. The entire hat is made with superwash wool. As mentioned in the post before this one, I purchased the wool in roving form-hand dyed by my friend Cindie Kitchin. Then I spun it up on my Schacht '
Lady Bug' spinning wheel and knit it using basic knit stitches. The pattern I use gives me all kinds of room to try out different things. I really enjoyed it, and of course am planning my next one!
Super job.
ReplyDeletewow - it's great!
ReplyDeleteok .. i am in love with this flapper hat.. the colors.. designs ..everything! I wish I were half as talented as you!
ReplyDeleteWhat book are you using Yvonne?
ReplyDeleteSo... if I paid you, would you make me a ear flapper hat?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely not! no payment at all....colors? wool or acrylic? Wool looks better, but it has to be HAND washed in cold water and laid flat to dry....Have you looked at all the ones I've made...to see how you like colors put together...actually each time I try a little different thing to do the fair isle stitch...and...you'll have to wait for it...the thing is, I'm working on a new rolled brim hat for a 'pay it forward' that I'm doing on FB..and then I have TWO more after that....I don't push myself when I knit...I have fun and do it when I'm watching t.v. at night...lately I'm spinning to knit when using real wool....so that also takes some time...so, with that said send me an email and tell me what you think about all of this....wool is warm, but acrylic can be washed and dried in the machine...can you knit? I might/could teach you how to make one too....fun stuff...you are a patient person so I think you would be quite good at it!
ReplyDeleteOh really? Oh goodness! I am a very patient person. I would loooovvveee to learn if you would teach me. I love dark reds, dark green and dark brown and white. haha so a variation of greens and dark reds and browns? Oh goodness, when I am home, I will come have tea and we can chat. It will be amazing.
